Does Green Tea Really Make You Lose Weight?

I am trying to slim down a bit for the summer and I have heard that green tea can help you lose weight. I was wondering if it has worked for anyone, and if I would need to take the supplements or can I just sip on some green tea? Also, is it best to drink it/take the supplements before or after working out, at night time, after eating, etc?

    Yes and no.
Yes: There are metabolism boosters in green tea, but there are in a lot of things. Technically speaking, coffee could make you lose weight, so could speed. That doesn’t make them hugely good for you. The benefit of green tea is that it doesn’t have a lot of the other things that are bad for you like these other drinks, and green tea (similar to the water-flush diet, or the grape fruit juice flush diet) is that it displaces high calorie drinks that you were taking in before.
No, there’s really nothing in green tea that, by itself, will cause you to lose weight. Yes, it reduces your calorie intake by replacing/displacing other high calorie drinks, but no, if you don’t control your eating and exercise, no you won’t lose weight just because you bought into some health fad.
Give up pop, drink juice and water. It’ll have pretty much the same effect.

    Turtle,
Drinking green tea can improve your overall general health and well being due to the teas potent antioxidants. Antioxidants help flush out body toxins that tend to build up over time. Regularly flushing out body toxins makes your body run more efficient, leading to a healthier weight and figure.
It also helps your body gently and naturally burn up fat reserves by raising your metabolic rate. By increasing your metabolism, you’ll start burning fat at a much faster rate. Several reports indicate you can start to lose weight even with out a workout plan, but for maximum results, adding exercise and a healthier diet are recommended.
Antioxidants also increase the functionality of organs. It is now being said that toxic build-up can be responsible for many health issues and concerns we see today, so it is very critical to find a product that can aid in promoting a healthier inside and out.
It is also found that consuming green tea on a regular basis helps keeps your colon clean, reduces attacks from heart diseases and strokes, increases energy levels, boosts immune system and improves skin appearance.
If you want to look more into green tea you can use the link below, I got most of my information from there, they are also running a free trial right now.
Oh and about supplements and working out, you want to take them afterwards, this is when your body is taking in its nutrients.

NO. No, no, no, and no.
Studies have shown that large amounts of green tea (more than any normal human being would drink in a day!) can raise the metabolism a little, but not enough for there to be any significant difference in weight loss. Unfortunately companies have taken that study, twisted it, and run with it.
The tried and true healthy eating and exercise works wonders.

I can only speak of my own results. I started taking Green Tea capsules- I’m losing body fat, but not weight. In April, I lost 5 lbs. body fat, yet 3/4th of a lb. weight. Go figure. So, it worked for me on body fat.I just ordered some of the “Biggest Loser” whey protein as my trainer suggested it might help the acual weight loss. There’s blueberry, rasberry, chocolate and vanilla. I ordered vanilla because I figure I can make flavored smoothies:http://astore.amazon.com/optimalhealth00…

Working out makes you lose weight. But green tea is great when doing so.
